Learning through the seasons

It is that time of year when a trip to the store can be overwhelming with the sheer number of school supplies on display. I have always loved this season. Although my own school days are long behind me, I still do a little school shopping each new school year typically grabbing a tablet and a few No. 2 pencils!

Most of us had favorite subjects in school, along with a few classes that felt difficult or challenging. Even when we struggled, we knew those lessons were part of the journey. Along the way, teachers helped shine a light on concepts we did not yet understand.

While formal education may end, learning continues throughout life. Grief can be one of life’s most difficult teachers. It often arrives without invitation and leads us down an unfamiliar path. As you move through grief, you may discover new things about yourself, your loved one, and your own strength. You learn what it means to carry memories forward while adapting to a different reality.

Just as teachers helped guide us through school, God’s word offers guidance during times of loss. Psalm 119:105 reminds us, “Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path.”

In the midst of grief, may you find comfort in knowing that you do not walk this path alone. May each step forward bring new understanding, hope, and a renewed way of living.
